A demonstration of how to subscribe to the NWIITT RSS feeds using Thunderbird.
Thunderbird is a FREE e-mail client with news reader functionality from Mozilla the makers of Firefox.
Navigate to the NWIITT RSS Feed Page and right click on the required feed link to display the contextual menu. The example here is from Safari on a Mac (1).
Use the Copy Link option to copy the address of the RSS feed to your clipboard.
Before you can subscribe to any RSS feeds in Thunderbird, you need to create an RSS account.
The first step to create an account is to navigate to the File menu and select New -> Account...
(Alternatively, you can use Tools > Account Settings, and click on the Add Account button.)
In the New Account Setup dialog box select RSS News & Blogs (1) and press the Continue button (2).
Specify a name for the newly created account (1) and press the Continue button (2).
Verify the settings are correct (1) and click the Done button to finalize the account (2).
Feed subscriptions are created via the RSS Subscription dialog box accessed in one of the following 3 ways:
- Right-click on the account name in the folders pane and select Manage Subscriptions
- Click on the account name in the folders pane, and then click on the Manage Subscriptions link in the main Thunderbird window
- Select Tools -> Account Settings... from the menu, click on the account name in the left-hand pane and then click the Manage Subscriptions button
In the RSS Subscriptions dialog box click the Add button.
Paste the feed address in the Feed URL text box (1)
Select the storage location in the Store Articles in drop down (2)
Click OK (3)
The feed is listed in the News & Blogs section on the left of the application window. The name News & Blogs was the one specified in one of the earlier steps so if you selected a different name at that stage a different name will appear here (1).
Clicking the feed title loads the feed items into the list view on the right side of the application window (2).
